The 1 Billion Meals Initiative Support reflects a strong humanitarian commitment by Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor to combat global hunger and promote human dignity. Through a generous donation of AED 10 million, the initiative contributes to one of the largest food aid campaigns in the region, aiming to provide essential food support to vulnerable populations across 50 countries.
This initiative focuses on delivering food assistance to those most in need, including children, refugees, displaced individuals, and communities affected by natural disasters and ongoing crises.
The initiative is implemented in collaboration with leading international and regional humanitarian organisations, including Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the Food Banking Regional Network (FBRN), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), alongside local charities. This collaborative approach strengthens the reach and impact of the programme.
Launched during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the campaign reflects the UAE’s deeply rooted values of generosity, compassion, and social responsibility. It has also inspired widespread community engagement, with individuals and institutions contributing to the shared mission of addressing global hunger.
Khalaf Al Habtoor highlighted the moral responsibility to act against hunger, emphasising that collective efforts—big or small—are essential in achieving the initiative’s ambitious goal. The project ultimately aims to enhance food security, alleviate suffering, and promote global stability and peace through humanitarian action.
