The Dr. Khalaf Al Habtoor & Congressman Paul Findley Children’s Fund was launched to address child hunger in central Illinois. Founded through the philanthropic contribution of $500,000 by Dr. Khalaf Al Habtoor, in collaboration with former Congressman Paul Findley, the fund supports the Central Illinois Food Bank in Springfield. Its primary objective is to ensure that children from underprivileged families receive regular, nutritious meals.

The fund focuses on 21 counties served by the Food Bank, targeting areas with the highest levels of food insecurity. Through organised food distribution events, after-school programmes, and summer meal initiatives, the project ensures that children between the ages of 2 and 18 have consistent access to healthy meals. The initiative also includes support for local community kitchens and direct engagement with families, allowing donors to witness the immediate impact of their contributions.

By strengthening local food systems, the fund not only addresses immediate hunger but also contributes to long-term community resilience. Dr. Al Habtoor emphasises the importance of giving irrespective of race, religion, or background, reflecting a belief in universal human dignity.
