Khalaf Al Habtoor Hospital - Hrar

Khalaf Al Habtoor Hospital in Hrar, Akkar provides essential healthcare for 22 villages, reducing the need for patients to travel to Tripoli or Beirut for treatment.

The Khalaf Al Habtoor Hospital in Hrar, Akkar, was established to address the critical shortage of healthcare services in one of northern Lebanon’s most underserved and economically challenged regions. Akkar has historically suffered from limited medical facilities, a lack of specialised physicians and insufficient medical equipment, forcing many residents to travel long distances to major hospitals in Tripoli or Beirut to receive essential treatment.

To tackle this challenge, humanitarian support from Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor financed the construction of the hospital with an investment exceeding AED 40 million. The initiative also includes operational support for a period of five years to ensure the sustainability and continuity of healthcare services provided by the facility.

In addition to infrastructure development, the project supplied essential medical equipment to enhance the hospital’s treatment capabilities. Among these contributions were eight kidney dialysis machines valued at approximately USD 134,200, enabling the hospital to provide critical treatment for patients suffering from kidney-related illnesses.

The hospital primarily serves residents across 22 villages in the Akkar region, significantly improving access to healthcare for thousands of people who previously lacked reliable medical services nearby. By offering specialised medical care, diagnostic services and emergency treatment locally, the hospital reduces the financial and physical burden placed on patients and their families.

Beyond immediate healthcare benefits, the project contributes to broader community development by strengthening local health systems, improving public health outcomes and supporting social stability in the region. It stands as a meaningful example of international humanitarian cooperation aimed at improving living conditions and ensuring equitable access to essential healthcare services.
